We begin first round voting of AMVNews: Big Contest 2023. 56 videos took part in the contest. 6 contest videos rated lower than 2.7 points were excluded from voting. All 38 contest participants whose AMVs are eligible for the first round can take part in the voting now, as well as 13 jury members. Voting in first round is totally voluntary.
There are 15 contest nominations to vote in. Some of those include all videos, others include only the videos which match the nomination thematically. Finalists in each nomination will be chosen during first round voting. First round voting ends June 10th, 15-00 Moscow time (UTC+3). Link for voting form can be found in "Authorization" block, right upper corner of the webpage. You can fill in the form, add and change anything as much as you want till the end of voting period. Contest participants and co-authors do not see their own videos in the list and can't vote for them.

This was one of my quicker edits, though the concept I had in mind for the video didn't really call for anything to complicated. I wanted to create something that felt simple, yet a bit unique at the same time. I originally had this uploaded only to YouTube since I didn't quite feel it was worth uploading here. That said, over time it's grown on me. Perhaps it's my fondness for the song, the anime, or simply just the two combined together. I've decided that I finally add it here in case anyone wanted to download it or view it for the first time.
Regardless, I hope you all find at least some enjoyment from it.

I always wanted to make a Nana AMV, but I could never find a fitting song. That is, until Taylor Swift released her re-recorded Red album in 2021. All Too Well has always been my favorite song from her, however I didn't think the song fit until I heard Taylor's Version.

I started a couple of days after the album released, so since November 2021. Unable to focus too much on this for long periods of time, I worked on it whenever I had both the time and motivation. It's the first time I have actually felt invested and eager to work on an AMV. I guess all it took was editing my favorite anime series with my favorite song from one of my favorite artists, ha!

This AMV was a gift to my best friend who is fascinated by the storyline of Ushio and the robot from the alternative universe (or another world?) in Clannad, so the pace is quite relaxed due to a limited amount of scenes with them. Clannad After Story was predominantly used as a source of footage here. No sooner had I finished up making this AMV than I found out that there were also many scenes in Clannad season 1 too (lol)... But it was already too late to start everything from scratch, so in order to deal with the lack of scenes, I tried to add a side storyline about other 'incarnations' of Ushio, linking them with AIR. Not sure it's going to be very obvious, but these links weren't made clear anyway.

После почти 10 летнего затишье, Cyberpunk Edgerunner и песня STAY вновь меня побудила стряхнуть пыль со своего аккаунта на AMVNEWS и вспомнить какого это монтировать AMV. Это просто нарезка под музыку без каких либо крутых переходов, моушен штук и качественно вырезанных масок. Хорошее на мой взгляд сочетание музыки и аниме и не более.

This is a dream come true for me, I have always wanted to make an AMV with Steve Reich music, but his works are very complex and it is very difficult to adapt that complexity in an AMV, my solution, use Fibonacci sequences.

In total there are three Fibonacci sequences, which represent three different acts: The discovery (1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21(7). The bloody madness (1,1,2,3,5, 8(4,5),21(7.5) and The Lost (1,1,2,3,5(2.5),8(1,1,2),13(1,1,2),21(3) I think it's very good and works fantastically with the music (especially in the second act).

I decided to call the AMV as The Argonauts, the story of the first explorers of the Abyss, it reminded me of the old Greek legend (Argonaut, in Greek legend, any of a band of 50 heroes who went with Jason in the ship Argo to fetch the Golden Fleece).
