MomoCon is now accepting entries for its AMV & V-MIX Competitions!
Entries will be accepted until Tuesday, April 22, 2025 @ 11:59 pm ET. AMV Contest finalists will receive a free 4-day membership to MomoCon 2025, and the winner of each category will earn a trophy and a $75 Cash Prize. We're also giving $100 to the Coordinator's Choice Award winner, and $500 to the Director's Choice Award winner!

MomoCon has a separate V-MIX (Video Remix) Competition for Cosplay Music Videos and Live Action submissions. V-MIX Competition winners will earn an award and a free membership to next year's convention (MomoCon 2026).

In celebration of 20 years of MomoCon, we’re encouraging editors to create videos for our 2025 "Retro" theme. We're defining Retro as footage or music released approximately 20+ years ago (before 2005). Sources that received HD remasters are allowed, but modern remakes, covers, or subsequent seasons are not considered "Retro". All accepted submissions to either the AMV or V-MIX Competition are eligible to win the “MomoCon Theme Award” and $50 cash prize regardless of their genre, content, or finalist status. This award doesn't have a designated category, so AMV Contest participants will still need to determine the best-fit category for their submission.

2025 AMV & V-MIX Submission Form

Rules and Guidelines

General:
1) Entries must comply with the Basic & Auxiliary guidelines outlined in the A-M-V.org CONGRSS Rules

2) The AMV Contest allows submissions from all forms of Animation. This includes but isn't limited to non-Japanese animation such as Arcane, Hazbin Hotel, Bluey, and Genshin Impact.

2b) The V-MIX Competition welcomes Cosplay Music Videos and Live Action submissions. Entries that primarily consist of animated footage are only eligible for the AMV Contest.

3) Entries must be under 6 minutes in length. Submissions to the AMV Contest must also be at least 45 seconds.

4a) Entrants may submit one (1) video per AMV Contest category to a maximum of (2) categories. A third category may be entered only if at least one submission is to the Trailer or Comedy/Parody categories. Lastly, each video must be submitted to a single category and cannot be reused across multiple categories.

4b) Entrants can submit up to 3 additional videos to the V-MIX Competition. Entries that primarily consist of animated footage are only eligible for the AMV Contest.

5) All entries must be submitted by Tuesday, April 22, 2025 @ 11:59 PM ET.

Categories:
The AMV Contest consists of six categories. Entrants should select the category that best fits their submission. However, if the judges strongly believe a submission fits a different category better, it may be reassigned. The V-MIX Competition doesn't have specific categories, so submissions will be judged collectively against all other entries. The AMV Contest categories are as follows:

Trailer
Action
Drama / Serious
Romance / Sentimental
Fun / Upbeat
Comedy / Parody

File Formats:
MP4 is the preferred file type for entries. We strongly discourage submitting any other media type.

Judging:
The top five videos from each AMV Contest category will be selected and screened during the convention. AMV Contest entries that are not selected as finalists will automatically be moved to the V-MIX Competition, providing another opportunity to showcase your work. During the AMV Contest screening, MomoCon attendees will vote to determine the winners of each category. Once the votes are tallied, winners will be announced at the event and on our Social Media. The AMV contest will also be streamed LIVE on MomoCon's Twitch channel.

Unlike the AMV Contest, the V-MIX Competition doesn't have finalists. After the submission deadline passes, our panel of judges will select videos to receive specific awards that will be announced during the V-MIX Competition screening.

In addition to the V-MIX awards and Category winners, there will also be the following awards:

Editors' Choice: Chosen via online voting by AMV & V-MIX Competition Entrants
Judges' Choice: Chosen by MomoCon volunteer staff before the convention.
Phade's Phave: Special Guest Award chosen by Phade!
Coordinator's Choice: Chosen solely by the AMV Contest Coordinator (Erik Norelus "Kireblue")
Director's Choice: Chosen solely by the Co-Chair/ Founder of MomoCon (Jessica Merriman)

Rookie & Novice Awards:
Editors have the option to label themselves as a “rookie” or “novice” on their submission forms. These classifications allow participants to compete for the “Best Novice” and “Best Rookie” awards, designed to celebrate the hard work of editors at various levels of experience.

For our judging, a Novice is someone who has been editing Fandom Music Videos for 2 years or less and has little to no prior experience in video editing. A Rookie is someone who may have prior experience in video editing but has been editing Fandom Music Videos for 3 years or less or has never won a major category award in a competition (Best Action, Drama, Comedy, etc). Choosing either of these classifications does not disqualify participants from making finals or winning additional awards. Winners of either award are ineligible to win the same specific award more than once.
