Anime Expo, the largest anime, manga and Japanese culture convention in North America now receives submissions for AMV contest. There are 3 Prime Categories (Drama & Theatric, Adventure & Action, Romance & Sentimental), 5 General Categories (Comedy, Fun, Parody, Upbeat, Dance) and a Bonus Category (Commercials & Trailers). Submission deadline - July 4th, 2014. Main rules, in short:

• Entrants may submit no more than three entries total. No more than two of those entries may be for a Prime Genre. Entering two Prime Genre entries into the same genre is not permitted. Entering multiple General Genre entries into the same genre is permitted. Bonus Genre entries are exempt from this rule. 
• Any video that, prior to the date of the previous AX (July 4th, 2013), was ever publicly accessible online before that time or has ever participated in any other competition and/or exhibition before that time shall be deemed “stale” and ineligible to compete. Bonus Genre entries are exempt from this rule except that the entry must never have participated in a previous AX AMV Competition. 
• AMV entries must be longer than 1 min 30 sec, and shorter than 6 min. Commercials have no minimum duration, but may not exceed 30 sec. Trailers may not exceed 3 min 30 sec. 
• Entries are judged anonymously. Your entry should not contain any information that breaks anonymity, such as intros, logos, or credits of any kind. We will create credit slates for all finalist entries. Bonus Genre entries are exempt from this rule.

•  Final Voting: February 23rd - March 1st

If you released any videos during 2013, they are most likely eligible for entry in the VCAs. Please head over to the Eligibility Page to make sure you're not disqualified! 
The deadline for clearing up eligibility issues is January 17, 2014. If you're not cleared by then, then you will not be able to participate this year - so don't forget to make your fixes!
