My first AMV. Was playing around in Premiere, and threw this together overnight, so it may be considered a bit rough on the edges. I simply arranged and cut clips, and made no use of any effects, but hopefully somebody here will enjoy it for what it is! This AMV has Major spoilers for the Monogatari Series, up to the 2nd Season.
The AMV's concept was essentially born out of my noticing the similarity between the song's lyrics and Nadeko's character. Most would probably associate it with a certain video game franchise, but as somebody who is hopelessly in love with the Monogatari Series, i cannot help but be reminded of it everywhere i look and listen.
The lyrics to me read more like a lamentation at someone's failure to be "seen" by someone else. They're overlooked, forgotten, and ultimately invisible. They want to be recognized for who they are. Nadeko wishes to be "seen" and "remembered" and viewed with affection by Koyomi Araragi, but that is merely a persona which hides the truth. That the core of Nadeko's self-hatred and eventual downward spiral stems from how she is not only the identity that her family and peers have projected onto her.
The real Nadeko, the nerdy pervy retro geek who dreams of becoming a manga artist is Invisible; to everyone and even Nadeko herself, who feels shame and hides these traits. she tries to deny them, yet cracks in her facade lead her to subtly hint at her true self. Her cuteness is the "Shape of her disgrace", yet that shape is all others define her by, and so she internalizes that and adopts it as a mask. And the more she does, the more her true self is buried and it makes her Invisible.
