Highly recommended to listen with headphones or speakers that are capable of high frequencies.
I achieved the distortion by importing the .mp4 in Audacity multiple times, in the first iteration I exported it without any changes within Audacity, however this will still distort the video. The second version was reversed and had the echo effect added before exporting. Afterwards, I imported both versions into After Effects above each other with the clean one on the bottom. The upper layer got a gaussRandom expression on the opacity attribute to switch back and forth between both layers.
