If you were to cross-breed a snail and a turtle … then the result would be probably my editing pace LOL. I am terribly sorry to May for being such an unreliable novice ;___; ( I even thought of just dropping it because I started to hate the acoustic version of this song /shot) but after all I think it was worth it! :D She gave me so many tips and reliable feedbacks for the pacing (which is my overall-weak point) the sync and the mood, therefore I am extremely thankful to her In general I really enjoy editing to slow paced songs, but then my pacing will be even slower than the actual song, so I simply hope I leveled up at it with this little creation of mine :3

AimoAio (Pro): I always knew you had potential to create a beautiful mood based piece. Your colouring and presentation has always been your best points, problem was the pacing and also finding the motivation and time to complete a full video. (I don't even remember when your last FULL video was XD) I'm glad to see the hard work paid off because I really love this video. Well done once again for finishing it. :)

Shin: I'm more of hands off kind of teacher, so I dunno how useful I ended up being. We had a larger project planned at first, but we realized it would take too long to make the deadline, so we ended up shifting gears and went with a simpler dance style video.

GuntherAMVs: So, Shin and I started discussing Level Up back before Akross was even over, and we bounced ideas back and forth while working on Fate Matrix. We ended up with a really challenging concept I was excited about, but technical issues and time limits made it impossible. So we changed gears.

We decided to go for a dance-upbeat video, and I wanted to focus mostly on my transitions and timing, since those are Shin's strong suits. I also ended up learning alot about the technical side of editing as well. AMVsimple, MeGUI, and ZarxGUI among others were all new to me, but Shin walked me through them. Also, a big shoutout to JazzVids and Gotegenks for giving me advice on add layers and deinterlacing. Another shoutout to Pochomaluv and IleiaAMVs for being such good cheerleaders when I got down on myself.

My pro of course also gets my shoutout! He's been giving me pointers since the moment we met, I think xD. He's never refused a question, no matter how frequent or annoying. And when I forced him to watch beta after beta, he hardly complained. I'm sure this isn't the end of all the things I'll learn from him.

So, after a few months of work, I give you DISCO 4.0.

animAe (Novice): After experiencing the most tragic event of their childhood, Jinta along with four other friends are unable to forget their past. Menma, a girl around the age of 7 and very close friend to Jinta, passes away after having a small fight with the five leaving her to accidentally fall off the edge of a steep hill and into a river, passing away on site. All five of her friends feel regret for not being able to save Menma but her death hits hardest to Jinta because they were closest and had deep feelings towards her. Several years pass and the friends were able to move on with their lives, except for Jinta. He has become depressed over the loss and still feels it was mostly his fault. As he is about to reach his breaking point, a ghost form of Menma appears before him and only him. The other friends are unable to see Menma and claims Jinta to be seeing a hallucination, to make up for his past.

I really enjoyed working with Aimo on this project because I look up to her as one of my inspirations in editing! She was very patient with me because I constantly changed my song and concept in the past months of the contest ^^; I thank her for all of the things she taught me such as effects to get the slightly altered storyline just right! I especially appreciate her teaching me how to use VirtualDub, Zarxgui, and getting the right codecs! Thank you for everything May! <3

AimoAio (Pro): I'm proud of Mae for completing this video. She was a really diligent worker who listened to all my annoying nitpicks and still strived to work harder. The main focus in this video was the feeling of "regret". There are so many things you do or say to other people with no regrets when they're still alive. But what happens once they die? Regret is a very strong emotion, strong enough to delude people into seeing things they think are real but in reality, are not. In this video, whether or not the girl was real, is left up to the viewer to decide. There are many interpretations after all. :)

Maple Leaf ~Пепел~ (Novice): Мне никогда не удавалось сделать что-то, что действительно могло бы зацепить, пробрать до мурашек, вызвать слёзы или искренний восторг. Поэтому я подумала: а что если сделать наоборот? Сделать что-то, что не должно вызывать всех этих эмоций. Благодаря моему Про идея сформировалась в сюжет и немного отошла от изначальной задумки – эмоции там всё-таки есть, но клип не направлен на то, чтобы их вызывать. Я просто хотела, чтобы после просмотра зритель мог сказать: «Да, хорошая работа».
Я считаю нашу командную работу с Про очень слаженной и продуктивной. Clarion терпеливо и доходчиво пояснял мне любые нюансы и детали, раскладывал всю информацию по полочкам, уделял внимание мельчайшим недочётам и в итоге, несомненно, очень многому меня научил. По крайней мере, если вы сравните с прошлыми моими работами, прорыв будет заметен. Так что громадное ему за это спасибо)
P.S.: Да, клип очень длинный, но я просто ещё не умею умещать сюжет в более короткий кусок =_=’ И смотреть желательно полную версию.

Clarion (Pro): Всегда удобно, когда идеи и мысли совпадают. Наверное потому моим единственным новайсом, дошедшим до конкурса, и стала Пепел. Очень часто, стоило мне над чем-то подумать, как она выступала с подобным же предложением, и мне лишь оставалось редактировать и помогать реализовывать. Нельзя забыть и про ее невероятную работоспособность, ответственность и прилежание. Нам всегда удавалось найти разумные компромиссы. Надеюсь, что и в самом деле смог помочь ей.
И да... С уверенностью могу сказать, что этот ЛА, в новой роли для меня, стал не менее полезным и обучающим.

Galia and Kitty (Pro): AomiSan очень послушная ученица, было приятно работать вместе с ней ;3 Идея клипа поначалу достаточно удивила, но на выходе получился очень милый и наверное один из самых добрых романтических клипов, которые мы когда-либо видели. Что касается технической стороны, то мы с AomiSan увлеклись изучением всякого-разного, но клип не располагает к демонстрации многообразия технических приёмов, да и чего греха таить - дедлайн же, что-то просто не успелось. Но AomiSan обещает использовать всё изученное в следующем клипе, чего мы очень ждём :3 Добра всем ~

Mystyk: Lots of thanks for my pro, Kain-x-Spirits, who taught me some effects, and everything else he helped in! This is a simple video, I only showed 2 girls from the show, and this video supposed to show the cute side of love. I know this could have been better, I should have put more time into it, but whatever. I hope you like this better than my entry last year.

Kain-x-Spirits: I didn't had much time at the beginning to help her, and she also didn't have much time to edit. So, it ended up by being a pretty raw video.
I made her correct a lot of little things for her video have a better flow, that's still not perfect, but it's far better than what we've seen at first. I hope she will stop to do some certain thing now :p
In the end, i'm pretty proud of her work, even if it's not the most awesome romance AMV. It was fun to do this work with her, and we really spend great times doing this.

Niwa (Pro): I was susprised that Gee asked me at first to be his Pro for this contest, since I've already seen what's his capable of and I was certain that I couldn't teach him more than he already knew.
Apparently, he wanted to try something new and to experiment the RAW side of editing rather than his usual style with Visual Effects. So I explained him a bit about planning his structure for the editing and also choosing his scene scelection wisely during this process, but due the circumstances, we ended up working on improving his style into Visual Effects and helped him with his design and structure instead.
While he mastered most of his animation during this project, I wanted him to focus on the overall design and presentation of his M@D video rather working on the technical side, because that's what tend to be lacking from most M@D videos I've seen until now. In the end, I wished I could've helped him more and had more discussion about the concept of his video, but I'm satisfied of his results and it's been a nice experience overall. Hopefully, he'll use this knowledge to extend his own skills even further into his future works.

Kyuketsuki28 (Novice): Ever since I really wanted Niwa to teach me the basics of color correcting and color adjustments as well as the importance of color choosing in any video, weather raw or effect styled. I asked him to be my pro last year but he already gathered his 3 novices that time, I have to give up and wait for this year to join with him. Luckily he agreed to be my pro, I learned a lot from him, and I felt I improved in my style a lot. We were supposed to go for Raw editing for this contest because I want to try something that I'm not used to, but because of my tight schedule and other real life stuffs, I have to change the plan and go on for something that I can easily accomplish. This project started January 17 and ended February 19, I'm editing every night, 5 seconds of the video each day. I'm so happy I made it in time. This video like most of the MAD, is Seishiga Styled (images only). The video is intended something to enjoy while watching. I brought out the cuteness of the song using chibi images I have in my HD together with bright and colorful atmosphere that Niwa contributed a lot in teaching me. That is all, enjoy the sugar sweetness. And oh, this may not be obvious but in every scenes there are like hidden meanings. :) have fun figuring each out <3

[madaraxD] (Novice): First of all i want to say thanks to aimo for betatest this clip, really helped me a lot. I'm really happy with the final result of this, and it was a fun and interesting experience =D

About the video: I want to show the opposite of a ¨good love¨ I mean .. show a relationship of a couple where the guy made ​​to suffer the girl and does not care her love. I also want to show the sad feelings she has for this situation. And in the second half of the song I will show the same but with Renji and Chihiro as protagonists. Also i want show how the two girls suffer in different ways. And the title ¨EVOL¨ is because is LOVE reversed

AimoAio (Pro): Because EF is relatively overused, when madara first told me about his idea, we both discussed and decided our main focus would be to make it as original and different as possible so a lot of effort was put into effect design. Then our second priority was to focus on the mood. I hope this is able to show through to the viewer because he worked very hard on the video. Enjoy. :)

KitsuMiko (Novice): Ход работы: Моя сенсей большая молодец, я её очень уважаю и люблю за всё, чему она меня научила. Мичи постоянно возилась со мной, объясняла мне то, что было не понятно и указывала на ошибки. Мичи постоянно меня смешила, с ней было весело работать – умудрялась найти в работе несуразные вещи, смешные моменты и глюки. Ну а порой просто болтали обо всём =) А еще она меня часто пыталась пугать, чтобы мне лучше работалось, но мне было не страшно (^_^), только стыдно, что не понимаю на её взгляд логичных вещей. И пока она мне не показывала всё на примерах – до меня не доходило. Собственно - в основном это касалось синхры и динамики, я её вообще не понимала, не чувствовала и не знала, как и на что ставить акценты. Много хлопротиков было замазано… А ещё масочки, масочки, масочки… Теперь я понимаю как трудно их вырезать. Долго, тяжко и муторно. (процесс мне очень не понравился =_=) Но это того стоило)
О клипе: Работа посвящена теме маленьких детишек. Дети же – цветы жизни! так почему бы не посвятить им клип? ^^ Эти малышки полны жизни и радости. Надеюсь клип будет для вас - приятной детской неожиданностью =)

Мичи (Pro): Ну что тут сказать... Кажется я научилась останавливать ураганы! Энергии и напора Кицу не занимать, что больщой плюс, благодаря чему мы таки справились с нашей задумкой. Мне остается надеяться, что все впихнутое за время кона, постепенно устаканится в голове Кицу и пойдет в прок. Она еще очень молодой автор и только в начале своего творческого пути, так что могу только пожелать ей удачи в дальнейшем, расти и развиваться в интересного автора.

Мы строили, строили и наконец построили. Ну или типа того. Пройдены все этапы - от выбора идеи и подбора исходников до энкодинга (который оказался самым нервным и печальным, да). Самым сложным было (и осталось) преодолеть кашу в голове, что является нормальным для меня состоянием. Вот и сейчас... ну, вы поняли. Это моя первая конкурсная работа, над которой я действительно работал. Ну и вообще, можно сказать, первая конкурсная, очень надеюсь, что опускать глазки и оправдыватьcя "первый раз не считается" мне не придется.
Помимо Гауди, который мне учитель, наставник и вообще вторая мать, клип видели три человека: мокона, школьница и дизайнер. Мокона указывал на дыры в сюжете и других местах, которые я пытался латать, школьнице понравилось, а дизайнер обматерил за спойлеры. Такие дела.
Про сюжет: клип - попытка изобразить большую такую аллюзию на фильм "Эффект бабочки", который смотрели все (а кто не смотрел - рекомендую). Получилось или нет, решать вам. Идея, похоже, не нова, но внести посильный вклад в обоянивание неплохого исходника - долг каждого нуба, да? Спасибо Гауди за посильную помощь, советы, и за то что не послал меня с моими тупыми вопросами куда подальше. И вам всем тоже заранее спасибо за оценки, критику, отзывы и троллинг. Всех люблю :3

JazzsVids (Novice): So I made this AMV for Level Up 2012. Being able to work with Overture was a really amazing experience. He's so creative with his ideas and I was honored to be his novice. Originally we were going to work on an AMV with a bit more complex concept, but due to time restrictions we had to settle for something a bit smaller. I'm still very satisfied with the way this AMV came out. After working with Overture I feel a lot more confident in my ability to work in AE. I have also learned to pay more attention to details and think more creatively. I feel that overall I have made some major improvements in my editing.

Overture (Pro): I mainly wanted to focus on teaching Jazz creativity, detail, and thinking outside of the box with her concepts since that is what i feel most editors are lacking now days. We were extremely excited for our original concept, but it was much bigger than the amount of time we had. Im still very proud of what she made in the end and she made it easy for me since she was a fast learner. It was fun having a slave... um, i mean NOVICE for these couple of months and i hope she continues to take what i taught her and level up higher than she ever thought possible :D
