По сути:
The cover-song is great, and suits this anime-source better, but still their match is not quiet good, the potential of the song is not presented through the scenes chosen.
As for me, with such song, there should be more symbolic scenes and frames, more character profiles, and much more less storytelling.
Overall, the sync was not bad. But the author could work more carefull with such features as fading, stop-frames or camera, to make the sync more obvious. There are some scenes wich are more fast than the music (books falling, etc)
The alt-story-ending is too naive, not worth turning the plot with such music into a drama (no change in the mood of the track)
